1. Facts about ‘Golden Bell’

  •  ‘Golden Bell’ is a TV show for teenagers, aired on KBS 1TV every Sunday from 7:10 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Since 1999, it has been one of the most favored popular TV shows for the past ten years.
  •  ‘Golden Bell’ is a survival quiz show. Every week, 100 students from one high school challenge to solve all 50 questions.
  • When a student survives till the end and gets the right answer for the 50th or the last question, we say he or she has rung the golden bell’ and the winner can put his or her name in the ‘Fall of Fame.’
  •  While answering the questions, students show their talents as they sing, dance or do other performances. They can also have a nice talk with the MCs in the middle of the show.

2. Purpose of the special show celebrating the Anniversary of KBS

  • As the number of multicultural families is increasing, we hope to help understand different cultures and better communicate among different family members by putting foreign daughter-in-laws on TV from a special angle through this special show.
  • One hundred foreign daughter in laws who love Korea, regardless of who they are or where are from will try to find answers of 50 questions on Korean history and tradition. Participants will have a good time by learning about Korea through different questions and also showing their talents.

3. Time Schedule

  • Participants: 100 Foreign Daughter-in-laws
  • Video recording of the show is on Feb. 21, 2010
  • Video recording of the show will take place at KBS in Yeouido
  •  The show will be aired on Feb. 28, 2010 from 19:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.

4. Details on the Time Schedule

  • Application period: Jan. 29, 2010 ~ Feb. 5, 2010
  • Prior interview: Feb. 10, 2010 (scheduled)
  • Successful candidates will be posted on the home page on Feb. 11
  •  Orientation: Feb. 20, 2010
  • Video recording: Feb. 21, 2010
    * All time schedules can change with prior notice.

5. Qualifications

  •  Any foreign women married to Korean men currently living in Korea, who can communicate in Korean language (The questions will be given in Korean).
  • Those who have legal problems with the immigration office will be disqualified.

6. Benefits for the Participants

  • The winner will get the ‘Golden Bell Scholarship’
  • The last two or three survivors will also get the scholarship
  •  All 100 participants will get gift certificates and souvenirs. Lunch and snacks will be provided on the video recording day (Feb. 21)
  • Those who live outside Seoul and the capital region will get paid for food and lodging for an overnight stay.

7. Screening Process

  • First Step: Application review
  • Second Step: Prior interview
  • Participants will be selected based on the application review and the prior interview

8. Notice

  •  All participants should come to the orientation (place to be noticed later) the day before the video recording (Feb. 20).
  •  All participants should come to the assembly area (to be noticed later) by 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 18.
  • Video recording will take more than 8 hours and you cannot leave the place before the end of the recording.
